I assume BRP would not adjust the engine hours unless they believe that the reduced hours are legitimate? I am to send the EMM back and he will load the new correct files from BRP. The serial numbers do match and the hours and the max temps recorded are very high but the dealer claims these are erroneous and only relate to the EDF file he temporally loaded on. So if the engine history file shows 1900hrs and the serial number matches that on the leg that is the correct engine hours? The dealer claims the outboard had only done 450hrs and the engine history file is wrong as he uploaded a temporary set of files to get me running while he waits for a new file from brp. The MAP does not contain hours, serial numbers, or any specific information to that engine. What might be confusing the situation is that an engine MAP file does not have serial number information. So if you can find one of those backup files that would be better. It is intended as an automatic backup of the information on the EMM. If the engine has ever been successfully hooked to the diagnostic program and had an engine report created, the laptop used should have an EDF file on it. This is not something you can do yourself an authorized BRP dealer would have to contact BRP to obtain the file. If BRP creates a new EDF file for you than it will have the correct serial number information.
